May 17, 2011 | By

Below is a screenshot of the new Flex mobile project dialog from the upcoming June update of Flash Builder 4.5.  The picture with all three checkboxes says it all.  More information in my previous post.

  1. Reminds me of WixMobile (alpha). All wysiswyg wizardized coding to create a mobile app.

    • Hey Mike – I can see how you could come to that conclusion from this single dialog screenshot, so I feel I’ve misled you. After that dialog, you’re dropped into Flash Builder, the IDE for Flex that is based on Eclipse. If you haven’t looked at Flex, please take a look at http://flex.org/what-is-flex/ and http://flex.org/tour — as you can see, it’s not only about wizzard-based app construction. Believe me, if that’s all it was, I would never mention it.

Take a look at some of the apps your can build and some of the code. I think you’ll be impressed.

  2. I was just commenting how simple it looked. I am fully aware what happens once your project is setup.

I just looked at Wix Mobile yesterday so it’s fresh in my mind too.

I do believe when it comes to finding newcomers I think the Wix overall model will become the norm. 8 million flash sites already. Going from creation to hosted publishing is very simple. Surprised Adobe has not bought them yet. :)

The reason I was on your site was to ask you about maybe doing a talk about this new release at one of our Jacksonville CFUGs. We can use Connect, or your more then welcome to come up.

    Thanks,
    Mike

  3. I have flashbuilder 4.5 premium,
