1,000,000 Samples Served by Tour de Flex!
This morning, we reached an awesome milestone with Tour de Flex – One Million Samples served! When the application is connected to the internet, it creates a log entry on our server every time a sample is viewed so we can track popularity of each sample. The log reached one million rows this morning. We are seeing between 30,000 and 50,000 samples viewed per day so it’s getting some good usage.
We’ve created an audience of Flex developers so I need your help to create more content! There are currently 217 samples in Tour de Flex on various subjects including the Flex SDK, AIR, Data Access, Cloud APIs, and more. I want to have 1,000 samples by mid-2009. If you have any code that you think would add value to the samples in Tour de Flex, please submit it! We are especially interested in showcasing new components, skins, effects, etc. Instructions for submitting your own samples can be found at http://gregsramblings.com/2008/11/23/tour-de-flex-how-to-add-your-components-effects-skins-etc/
We are already working on an update to the application to improve the installer size (utilizing RSLs) reduce the CPU usage, adding a ranking system, improving the commenting system, and some cosmetic improvements. We are also working on localizing some of the application and samples. Stay tuned!

Woohoo! Congrats!
Thats the real proof of how successful is this app!
Let me know if I can help with the localization in Greek.

BTW, when are you going to add the Flex Showcase to Tour de Flex? Or is that not in your to-dos at this moment?

Greg, this is an awesome job that makes the work of the developer community much easier!
Do you know where we could get the animated splash screen? I am especially interested by the flag animation.
Thanks

can someone give me the name of the application second from top (picture). It looks like a geographic marking application.

I think you are referring to the ILOG Calendar component. Go to Data visualization / ILOG / Calendar

I have been looking for some Flex examples of general design and what I’m looking for specific is exactly like the layout of ‘Tour de Flex’ itself. You can find dozens and dozens of examples for individual components but I am completely unable to find examples for a complete application that responds well to resizing etc. I was therefore wondering if the source of the application itself is somewhere available? I really can’t find it and I think this is strange since the best example of Flex & Air components is the application itself and a lot of people would be able to learn from that…
