Badger – Tool for creating and customizing an AIR install badge
Earlier this month, I wrote about the advantages of using an install badge for your AIR applications. A few days ago, the Adobe AIR Developer Center posted Grant Skinner’s new application called Badger that makes customizing an install badge even easier.

Hi Greg,
Great work. This tool is definitely handy to use.
But one issue is that it doesn’t allow showing non-English text. Could you give some hint: why and what is the workaround?
Thanks,
James
Hey Greg,
I’ve been using Badger for deploying my apps for a few months now (thanks to you!).
My question is this: Is it possible to disallow the downloading of the AIR file and only give the option of installing? I’d rather not have my .air file being passed around!
Thanks!
Nick
Hey Nick – I don’t know of any options to prevent downloading. Even if the badge had the option, it’s easy for someone to look at the underlying html/js and see the URL to the AIR file.
Thanks!
Greg
Thanks Greg – my company is actually creating an AIR-based content delivery platform that has a highly secure and sandboxed browser, so the user would not have access to the url or any code for the host page. Now I just need a way to eliminate the pesky “save file” dialog!
