Although Flash Lite has been available for Windows Mobile for awhile this official licensing should bring it some much needed attention. Funny thing is I was just thinking about this the other day and wondered why there weren’t more applications developed for it. Now this!

JD – I think you may be correct on Skyfire so we’ll we’re even

I just watched a demo at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPLV7fzyr5M

You’ll notice that Flash 9 content is playing on the mobile screen which is not possible using a mobile flash player at this point in time..so they are doing some “server magic”.

Either way, Skyfire looks interesting. I’m signed up for the beta…we’ll see how it works in the real world soon.

The current version is Flash Lite 2.1

Skyfire supports real flash content locally in the browser. Details at http://www.skyfire.com/product Flash Lite 3.0 is embedded in the browser itself.

Starting with Opera Mobile 9.5, support is provided for true Flash Lite 3.0 as well – http://www.opera.com/b2b/file/Opera_Mobile_Product_Sheet.pdf

I’m not sure about Skyfire or Opera Mobile… from reading their materials, it looks like they do a serverside transcoding of web content and deliver something else to the final viewing device.

I’m glad to hear of your interest in delivering to multiple device types though, and thanks for the link roundup!
